Ostrea edulis shell is an animal extract derived from the shells of the European flat oyster. It is primarily composed of calcium carbonate and has a long history of use in traditional medicine, especially in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where it is known as "Mu Li." In TCM, it is used for its sedative, astringent, detoxifying, anticonvulsive, and anticoagulant properties.
