OT-305

OT-305 is a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist developed by Ocumension Therapeutics for the treatment of chronic open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. The drug contains the active ingredient betaxolol hydrochloride and is administered as a topical ophthalmic solution. It works by antagonizing beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the ciliary body, which leads to a reduction in the production of aqueous humor, thereby lowering intraocular pressure (IOP). Ocumension acquired the rights to this formulation, which is marketed as Betoptic S, for the mainland China market from Novartis in 2021. It can be used as a monotherapy or in combination with other intraocular pressure-lowering medications.
