Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Otijan is a combination ear drop formulation developed by Jainson Biotech for the treatment of allergic, inflammatory, and infectious conditions of the middle and external ear, including otorrhea. It contains four active ingredients: neomycin sulfate (an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit), betamethasone (a topical corticosteroid that acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce inflammation and swelling), clotrimazole (a broad-spectrum imidazole antifungal that inhibits lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase to disrupt fungal cell membrane synthesis), and lignocaine hydrochloride (a local anesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels to provide symptomatic pain relief).
