OTL-489 is an investigational tumor-targeted near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent imaging agent developed as a cocktail of two ligands, each directed to lung tumor tissue and conjugated to an NIR dye, to enhance intraoperative visualization of lung cancers and improve surgical resection margins.[4] It builds on the folate receptor–targeted NIR dye platform exemplified by OTL38, which has shown high-affinity binding to folate receptor–expressing tumors and favorable pharmacokinetics for fluorescence-guided surgery in cancer patients.[1][4] Designed for systemic administration immediately prior to surgery, OTL-489 aims to provide high tumor-to-background contrast in lung malignancies, enabling more precise identification of malignant nodules and potentially reducing residual disease after resection.[4]
