Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**OTO-510** is a small molecule otoprotectant in a sustained-exposure formulation developed for intratympanic administration to prevent **cisplatin-induced hearing loss (CIHL)**. Initially originated by **Otonomy** in collaboration with the **University of California**, it provides selective otoprotection without compromising the antitumor efficacy of cisplatin chemotherapy. Preclinical studies demonstrated its therapeutic potential in ex vivo and in vivo models of ototoxicity, evaluating novel proprietary compounds from various drug classes. Development reached the preclinical stage, with assets later acquired by **Spiral Therapeutics**.[1][3][4][5][8][15]
