Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Otodine is a patented veterinary ear-cleansing solution developed by Nextmune for dogs and cats. It contains a combination of chlorhexidine digluconate and Tris-EDTA, buffered to pH 8. The formulation acts as an antimicrobial and ceruminolytic agent, targeting common otic pathogens such as *Staphylococcus*, *Pseudomonas*, and *Malassezia*. It is indicated for cleaning the ear canal, removing excess wax, and as an adjunct to medical treatment for otitis externa. The Tris-EDTA component enhances the permeability of bacterial cell walls, synergizing with the antimicrobial action of chlorhexidine to effectively manage ear infections and maintain long-term ear health in companion animals.
