OTR-006 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate developed by OTR Therapeutics for the treatment of neurological disorders. It belongs to the company's ReGeneraTing Agent (RGTA) platform, which consists of synthetic, biodegradable polymers designed to mimic the structural and functional properties of heparan sulfates within the extracellular matrix (ECM). In damaged tissues, endogenous heparan sulfates are often degraded by enzymes like heparanase, leading to the loss of protective binding sites for growth factors and cytokines. OTR-006 acts as a functional replacement for these degraded molecules, binding to and stabilizing signaling proteins to protect them from proteolysis. This restoration of the ECM microenvironment aims to promote natural tissue repair and regeneration in the nervous system.
