Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Taikoseido's Otsujito Extract Granules is a traditional Japanese Kampo medicine indicated for the relief of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, and constipation, particularly in individuals with relatively robust physical strength. The formulation is a standardized extract of six medicinal herbs: Bupleurum root, Scutellaria root, Rhubarb, Glycyrrhiza, Cimicifuga rhizome, and Angelica root. It functions through a multi-targeted approach, where Rhubarb provides a stimulant laxative effect to soften stools, while Scutellaria and Bupleurum exert anti-inflammatory and analgesic actions to reduce swelling and pain in the rectal area. Angelica root is included to improve local blood circulation, facilitating the healing of hemorrhoidal tissues. This product is manufactured by Taikoseido Pharmaceutical and is approved for marketing in Japan as a pharmaceutical product.
