Overview

OVA-LNP is a research-grade mRNA vaccine construct consisting of messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding the model antigen ovalbumin (OVA) encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). It is widely utilized in preclinical immuno-oncology research as a surrogate payload to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of novel LNP delivery platforms and mRNA modification strategies. Studies have demonstrated that unmodified OVA-LNP can induce robust Type I interferon (IFN-I) production and dendritic cell maturation, leading to the expansion of polyfunctional OVA-specific CD8+ T cells and significant anti-tumor activity in B16 melanoma models. The platform is frequently employed by academic institutions, such as the University of Pennsylvania, and biotechnology companies like Cytiva to optimize vaccine formulations and investigate the role of innate immune sensors in the anti-tumor response.
