Ova-loaded erythrocytes are an experimental therapeutic construct consisting of red blood cells (erythrocytes) encapsulated with the model protein ovalbumin (OVA). This system leverages the natural clearance pathways of aged or modified erythrocytes, which are sequestered by professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs) in the liver and spleen. By delivering OVA directly to these APCs, the platform is used to study or induce specific immune responses.
