Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OVACE Plus Wash is a topical prescription cleansing product containing 10% sodium sulfacetamide, developed by Espada Dermatology (a division of Mission Pharmacal). It is specifically indicated for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and seborrhea sicca (dandruff). As a sulfonamide antibacterial agent, sodium sulfacetamide acts by competitively inhibiting the enzyme dihydropteroate synthase (DHPS). By competing with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), it prevents the synthesis of folic acid, an essential nutrient for bacterial growth and replication. The formulation is a sulfur-free, clear facial wash designed for twice-daily application, making it an appropriate option for patients with sensitivities to sulfur-based treatments.
