Overview

Ovamex is a hormonal therapy containing ganirelix acetate, a synthetic decapeptide that acts as a gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist. Developed and marketed by Theramex, it is indicated for the prevention of premature luteinising hormone (LH) surges in women undergoing controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH) for assisted reproduction techniques (ART), such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). By competitively binding to GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland, Ovamex rapidly suppresses the secretion of endogenous gonadotropins, thereby preventing the premature ovulation of follicles. It is formulated as a 0.25 mg/0.5 mL solution for subcutaneous injection in pre-filled syringes.
