OvaPrime

OvaPrime is a cell-based fertility treatment developed by OvaScience, Inc. It is designed to improve fertility outcomes in women diagnosed with either primary ovarian insufficiency (POI) or poor ovarian response (POR). The procedure involves isolating autologous EggPC cells (egg precursor cells) from biopsy tissue obtained from the outer layer of a woman's own ovary. These isolated EggPC cells are then reintroduced into the follicular development zone of the same woman's ovary using a laparoscopic procedure. The goal is for these EggPC cells to develop and mature into fertilizable eggs, either naturally or with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation using standard IVF protocols. The process does not involve the culture or expansion of the EggPC cells prior to reintroduction.
