Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ovapuldencel-T (AV-OVA-1) is a patient-specific, autologous dendritic cell vaccine developed by Aivita Biomedical (formerly California Stem Cell and Caladrius Biosciences) for the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. The vaccine consists of autologous dendritic cells loaded ex vivo with autologous tumor antigens derived from a lysate of irradiated self-renewing cells enriched for tumor-initiating cells (TICs) isolated from the patient's own tumor tissue. Prior to subcutaneous administration, the vaccine is admixed with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) as an adjuvant. This personalized immunotherapy is designed to stimulate a robust, patient-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) immune response targeting the unique repertoire of neoantigens and tumor-associated antigens present on the patient's ovarian cancer cells, particularly the tumor-initiating cells responsible for disease recurrence and progression.
