OVX313 is a first-generation universal influenza vaccine candidate developed by Osivax using its proprietary oligoDOM technology. The vaccine is a recombinant fusion protein comprising the highly conserved internal nucleoprotein (NP) from the influenza A/WSN/1933 (H1N1) strain fused to a pro-immunogenic molecular scaffold known as IMX313. This scaffold is derived from the C-terminal domain of the avian (chicken) C4b-binding protein (C4BP) alpha chain. The fusion protein self-assembles into a homo-heptameric structure, which significantly enhances the immunogenicity of the NP antigen by improving its presentation to the immune system. OVX313 is designed to elicit a potent and broad-spectrum T-cell response, particularly CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, to provide protection against a wide range of influenza A subtypes. While OVX313 served as the proof-of-concept for the oligoDOM platform, Osivax has since progressed a second-generation candidate, OVX836, which utilizes a different NP strain, into more advanced clinical development.
