Overview

OVX836 is a first-in-class recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed to provide broad-spectrum protection against influenza. It targets the highly conserved nucleoprotein (NP) of the influenza virus, an internal antigen that is much less prone to mutation than surface antigens, enabling a more universal immune response. The vaccine uses Osivax’s proprietary oligoDOM technology, which allows the NP to self-assemble into nanoparticles composed of seven NP copies fused to OVX313. This structure triggers robust T-cell and B-cell immune responses, including strong systemic NP-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses as well as anti-NP IgG production. Preclinical studies have shown protection against both influenza A and B strains in animal models, while clinical trials have demonstrated safety, immunogenicity, and preliminary efficacy in humans.
