Ox-01

Ox-01 is an investigational small molecule developed by Freeox Biotech as an emergency adjunct therapy for patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) undergoing mechanical thrombectomy. It consists of a proprietary co-crystal formulation of pharmaceutical-grade uric acid administered as a 90-minute intravenous infusion. Ox-01 functions as a potent antioxidant and neuroprotective agent, aimed at restoring microcirculation homeostasis and protecting the penumbra from oxidative stress during reperfusion. The therapy was selected by the U.S. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) for evaluation on the StrokeNet Thrombectomy Endovascular Platform (STEP) following exceptional performance in the Stroke Preclinical Assessment Network (SPAN) trial, where it was the only candidate of six to meet the efficacy threshold. It is currently advancing toward a Phase 2/3 clinical trial known as AURORA (Administration of URic acid to Optimize Reperfusion Adequacy in Acute Stroke Trial).
