Overview

OX124 is a high-dose, proprietary intranasal formulation of naloxone developed for the rapid reversal of opioid overdose, particularly those caused by highly potent synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. It utilizes Orexo's amorphOX powder-based drug delivery technology, which enables rapid absorption and high bioavailability of naloxone. Clinical studies have demonstrated that OX124 achieves faster and higher plasma concentrations compared to both intramuscular injection reference products and current market-leading naloxone rescue medications at equivalent doses. The product is designed for use in life-threatening situations where opioid overdose is suspected, with the aim to prevent brain damage or death by quickly reversing respiratory depression and other effects of opioids. AmorphOX technology also improves stability and reduces sensitivity to temperature changes during storage. OX124 is protected by patents until 2039[1][3][4][5][6][7][9].
