Overview

OXCE is a combination therapeutic regimen comprising the chemotherapy drugs oxaliplatin and capecitabine (collectively known as XELOX or CapeOx) and the anti-angiogenic agent Endostar (recombinant human endostatin). Developed for the treatment of advanced colorectal cancer, this regimen combines cytotoxic DNA-damaging effects with the inhibition of tumor vascularization. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based agent that forms DNA adducts, while capecitabine is an oral prodrug of 5-fluorouracil that inhibits thymidylate synthase. Endostar, a modified recombinant human endostatin expressed in *E. coli*, inhibits the proliferation and migration of vascular endothelial cells by antagonizing VEGF-mediated signaling. This combination is primarily investigated by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine as a first-line therapy to improve survival outcomes in patients with metastatic or advanced colorectal malignancies.
