Overview
Oxaliplatin + prednisolone (Ox-P) is a combination chemotherapy regimen evaluated for the treatment of relapsed or refractory marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MZL). Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum-based antineoplastic agent that exerts its cytotoxic effects by forming intra- and inter-strand DNA crosslinks, which inhibit DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Prednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; in the context of lymphoma, it acts via the glucocorticoid receptor to induce apoptosis in malignant lymphoid cells. This specific combination was investigated in the CISL MZL-10-3 Phase II trial led by Dong-A University Hospital and the Consortium for Improving Survival of Lymphoma (CISL) to provide a salvage option for MZL patients who have failed prior therapies.
