Overview

This therapeutic regimen is a combination of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) using oxaliplatin, systemic SOX chemotherapy (comprising oxaliplatin and S-1), and the immune checkpoint inhibitor tislelizumab. It is being investigated by Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology for the treatment of gastric cancer with peritoneal metastasis. The approach aims to improve R0 resection rates and survival outcomes by combining local regional control through heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy, systemic cytotoxic effects from the SOX regimen, and immune-mediated anti-tumor activity via PD-1 blockade with tislelizumab. Oxaliplatin acts as a DNA cross-linking agent, S-1 is a multi-component fluoropyrimidine that inhibits thymidylate synthase, and tislelizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that enhances T-cell mediated immunity.
