Overview

Oxametacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the benzoylindole class of organic compounds. It exhibits analgesic (pain-relieving), antipyretic (fever-reducing), and anti-inflammatory properties. Its mechanism of action is primarily through inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzymes involved in prostaglandin synthesis. Oxametacin has been used for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders and acute gout attacks. Additionally, it has shown inhibitory activity toward histone deacetylases in preclinical studies and demonstrated selectivity against leukemic cell lines over solid tumor cell lines[2][3][4][5]. The adverse effect profile is similar to that of indometacin; gastrointestinal and nervous system side effects are common[8].
