Overview

Oxapex is a sterile hemoglobin-based oxygen carrier (HBOC) developed by Bios Biotechnology (Biois) for veterinary use, specifically in dogs. The therapeutic consists of hemoglobin betafumaril derived from bovine sources (cattle from New Zealand). Oxapex functions by increasing systemic plasma hemoglobin concentrations following infusion, which provides additional oxygen-carrying support and improves tissue oxygenation.
