Overview

Oxaprozin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties. It is used to treat mild to moderate pain and relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis in patients 6 years of age and older. Oxaprozin works primarily by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation, pain, and fever. It does not cure arthritis but helps manage its symptoms as long as the medication is continued. Developed by Pharmacia.
