OXB-203 is an investigational **lentiviral gene therapy** developed by Oxford Biomedica for neovascular age-related macular degeneration. The therapy delivers a transgene encoding **aflibercept**, an anti-VEGF fusion protein that functions as a soluble decoy receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor family ligands including VEGFA, VEGFB, and placental growth factor, with the aim of enabling sustained intraocular production after ocular administration. Preclinical studies described OXB-203 as using Oxford Biomedica's lentiviral vector platforms, including EIAV and HIV-1 based systems, and showed reduction of choroidal neovascularization lesions in animal models together with higher ocular aflibercept expression than AAV-based comparators.
