oxfendazole

Oxfendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic primarily used in veterinary medicine to treat and control gastrointestinal parasitism caused by roundworms, strongyles, pinworms, and other helminths in livestock such as cattle, sheep, goats, and horses. It is the sulfoxide metabolite of fenbendazole. Oxfendazole acts by inhibiting microtubule polymerization through binding to β-tubulin in susceptible parasites, disrupting cell division and leading to parasite death. While mainly approved for animal use (notably under brand names like Synanthic), it has shown substantial antiparasitic activity against neurocysticercosis and intestinal helminths in preclinical studies for human use. Clinical development for human indications such as neurocysticercosis and trichuriasis is ongoing[1][2][3][4][5][6][7].
