Overview

OXM10 is a specific oxyntomodulin analogue, a synthetic peptide designed to mimic the actions of native oxyntomodulin (OXM). Oxyntomodulin is a 37-amino acid peptide hormone naturally secreted from the gut in response to nutrient ingestion. It functions as a dual agonist, activating both the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) and the glucagon receptor (GCGR). This dual agonism contributes to its physiological roles in reducing food intake, increasing energy expenditure, and improving glucose metabolism. OXM10, like other oxyntomodulin analogues, was developed to overcome the short circulating half-life of native oxyntomodulin and enhance its therapeutic potential for conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes. It was custom synthesized by Insight Biotechnology Limited for research purposes as part of a broader investigation into oxyntomodulin analogues.
