Oxnig

Oxnig is a branded generic formulation of oxcarbazepine, a small molecule anticonvulsant developed and marketed by SNIG Pharma. It is primarily used for the treatment and prevention of epilepsy, specifically targeting partial seizures and their complications. Oxcarbazepine acts as a prodrug that is rapidly converted to its active metabolite, the 10-monohydroxy derivative (MHD). The drug's primary mechanism of action involves the blockade of voltage-gated sodium channels, which stabilizes hyperexcited neuronal membranes, inhibits repetitive neuronal firing, and reduces the propagation of synaptic impulses in the brain. Oxnig is available in India in multiple oral strengths (300mg, 450mg, and 600mg) and formulations, including sustained-release (SR) and extended-release (XR) tablets.
