Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oxofulleram is a water-soluble fullerene (C60) derivative developed by Solenne BV for the topical treatment of inflammatory skin conditions, specifically papulopustular rosacea. As a fullerene-based compound, it functions primarily as a potent radical scavenger or antioxidant, neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS) that contribute to the chronic inflammation and vascular changes characteristic of rosacea. By reducing oxidative stress in the dermis, Oxofulleram aims to alleviate the inflammatory lesions (papules and pustules) associated with the condition. It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in the Netherlands to determine its clinical applicability and safety profile in patients with moderate to severe rosacea.
