Overview

Oxybutynin + tamsulosin is a **combination of two small molecule drugs** used primarily for the management of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in men, especially those with both storage and voiding symptoms often associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). **Oxybutynin** is a muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist that reduces involuntary bladder muscle contractions, thereby improving symptoms of overactive bladder such as urgency and incontinence. **Tamsulosin** is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and the bladder neck, making it easier to urinate. The combination offers greater symptom improvement than tamsulosin alone without significantly increased risk of adverse events[1][2][3][6][7][8].
