oxycodone + risperidone

Oxycodone + risperidone is an investigational combination of two FDA-approved drugs, oxycodone (an opioid analgesic) and risperidone (an atypical antipsychotic). Oxycodone acts primarily as a mu-type opioid receptor agonist to provide analgesia for moderate to severe pain. Risperidone is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist used in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autism. The rationale for combining these agents is to maintain the analgesic efficacy of oxycodone while potentially reducing its abuse liability by blocking dopaminergic reward pathways via D2 antagonism.
