Drug intelligence / Profile preview
TPM-01 is an investigational transdermal patch formulation of oxycodone developed by Avecho Biotechnology (formerly Phosphagenics). The patch utilizes the proprietary Tocopheryl Phosphate Mixture (TPM) delivery system, a platform technology derived from Vitamin E (alpha-tocopheryl phosphate) that enhances the solubility and skin penetration of various therapeutic agents. TPM-01 was designed to provide sustained, systemic delivery of oxycodone for the management of chronic pain conditions, such as post-herpetic neuralgia. By delivering the opioid through the skin, the formulation aimed to maintain steady-state plasma concentrations, improve patient compliance, and potentially reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal side effects and the risk of abuse associated with oral opioid administration. Development was largely discontinued following disappointing results in Phase 2 clinical trials.
