Oxygen is a colorless, odorless gas essential for aerobic life. In medicine, it is used as a therapeutic agent to treat or prevent hypoxemia and hypoxia in various acute and chronic conditions. Oxygen therapy increases the partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood and improves tissue oxygenation.
