Overview

A fixed-dose combination of oxymetazoline (a sympathomimetic decongestant) and fluticasone (a corticosteroid) used primarily for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, particularly for patients with moderate-to-severe nasal congestion. This combination leverages the complementary mechanisms of both medications, providing rapid relief from congestion through oxymetazoline's vasoconstriction of nasal blood vessels and sustained anti-inflammatory benefits through fluticasone's inhibition of inflammatory mediators. Clinical studies have shown this combination to be superior to fluticasone alone in relieving nasal congestion and that the corticosteroid component helps prevent the rebound congestion or rhinitis medicamentosa typically associated with long-term oxymetazoline use.
