**Oxyresveratrol** is a naturally occurring hydroxystilbene, structurally related to resveratrol, and found in several plant species including Morus alba (white mulberry). It exhibits diverse biological and pharmacological activities, most notably as a **potent inhibitor of tyrosinase**—an enzyme involved in melanin production—making it of interest in cosmetic and dermatological applications for skin lighting and depigmentation[1][2][3]. Oxyresveratrol also shows significant **antioxidant**, **anti-inflammatory**, and **neuroprotective** properties, as well as potential hepatoprotective and anti-allergic actions[1][2]. Mechanistically, it reversibly inhibits tyrosinase through a mixed-type or competitive inhibition, depending on the substrate, and displays higher antioxidant activity than resveratrol in several assays[1]. Neuroprotective effects involve reduction of apoptotic cell death and suppression of pro-inflammatory mediators[2]. Oxyresveratrol is under investigation in a range of indications including inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases, but is not currently an approved pharmaceutical for any indication.
