OxyRub

**OxyRub** is a branded over-the-counter topical analgesic cream product line for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches associated with arthritis, simple backache, strains, sprains, and bruises. The base OxyRub Pain Relief cream contains menthol 1.25% as its active ingredient; menthol produces a cooling counterirritant effect primarily through activation of the cold-sensing TRPM8 ion channel. Separate OxyRub MAX and OxyRub PRO formulations contain menthol 2.5% plus methyl salicylate 10%, but these are distinct combination formulations rather than synonyms for the single-ingredient OxyRub Pain Relief cream.
