Delta Oxy Bolus is a veterinary combination medication developed by Wayzon Pharma, containing the broad-spectrum antibiotic oxytetracycline and the synthetic corticosteroid dexamethasone. Oxytetracycline exerts its antibacterial effect by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. It is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as Rickettsia and Mycoplasma. Dexamethasone provides potent anti-inflammatory and anti-stress activity by acting as an agonist at the glucocorticoid receptor. This combination is specifically formulated for livestock to treat systemic and local infections, such as pneumonia, metritis, and hemorrhagic septicemia, where the reduction of associated inflammation and toxemia is clinically beneficial for recovery.
