Delta Oxy Plus L.A. is a long-acting injectable veterinary formulation developed by Wayzon Pharma, combining the broad-spectrum antibiotic oxytetracycline with the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) flunixin. Oxytetracycline exerts its antimicrobial effect by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. Flunixin meglumine provides potent anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic activity by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are responsible for prostaglandin synthesis. This combination is specifically designed for the treatment of systemic and local infections in livestock, such as bovine respiratory disease (BRD), where the management of associated pain and fever is clinically beneficial alongside antibiotic therapy.
