Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OZ101 is an oral prebiotic tablet formulation of oligofructose, a naturally derived fiber, being developed by OzStar Therapeutics and GlyConMedics. It is designed as an add-on therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are currently treated with sulphonylureas. The drug's mechanism involves modulating the gut microbiome to address dysbiosis, which in turn improves glycaemic control and enhances the durability of sulphonylurea treatment by supporting pancreatic beta-cell function. OZ101 has completed a 24-week pilot dose-ranging study and has received regulatory support for Phase 2 clinical development.
