Ozanezumab is a humanized IgG1-type monoclonal antibody developed for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, primarily amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis. It specifically targets Nogo-A (also known as Reticulon 4 or RTN4), a myelin-associated transmembrane protein that inhibits neurite outgrowth and axonal regeneration in the central nervous system. By binding to Nogo-A, ozanezumab neutralizes its inhibitory effect on neuronal growth, with the aim of preserving muscle function and slowing disease progression in ALS. Despite promising preclinical results, clinical trials did not demonstrate significant benefit in ALS patients[1][5][6][7].
