Ozonated oil is a therapeutic product created by infusing vegetable oils (most commonly olive oil) with ozone gas. The ozone reacts with the unsaturated fatty acids in the oil to form ozonides, creating a reservoir that slowly releases ozone when applied to the skin. This product has antimicrobial properties (antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal) due to the oxidizing nature of ozone, which can damage microbial cell membranes. Ozonated oil also demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects, promotes wound healing, and provides moisturizing benefits. It works by improving tissue oxygenation, stimulating angiogenesis, and modulating inflammatory responses. The therapeutic efficacy depends on the degree of ozonation and the type of oil used as a base.
