Ozonated olive oil is a therapeutic product created by infusing olive oil with ozone gas until it solidifies. The ozone reacts with the unsaturated fatty acids in olive oil, particularly triolein (which makes up about 45% of olive oil), forming ozonides and peroxides. These compounds give the oil powerful antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties. When applied topically, ozonated olive oil releases reactive oxygen species that can damage the membranes of bacteria, viruses, and fungi, effectively acting as a natural antibiotic. It also promotes tissue oxygenation, stimulates cellular regeneration, and has antioxidant effects that protect against free radicals.
