Overview

Ozonated water is purified water into which ozone gas (O3) has been dissolved by bubbling the gas through the liquid for several minutes. The resulting solution contains dissolved ozone, a powerful oxidizing agent with strong antimicrobial and disinfectant properties. Ozonated water is primarily used for disinfection and cleaning in medical, dental, food safety, and household applications. In dentistry, it is used to reduce inflammation, disinfect wounds, treat oral infections such as tooth decay and gum disease, relieve pain, whiten teeth, and promote wound healing. Medically and therapeutically, ozonated water has been investigated for its potential to improve gut health by killing harmful bacteria and yeast in the digestive tract; reduce inflammation associated with conditions like inflammatory bowel disease or rheumatoid arthritis; boost immune function; detoxify the body; enhance oxygen delivery to tissues including the brain; accelerate wound healing; support antioxidant enzyme activity (e.g., catalase); purify blood by rupturing microbial cell walls; break down synthetic chemicals into less harmful substances; potentially slow tumor growth or decrease cancer cells (based on limited preclinical evidence); and assist in managing chronic infections[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Ozonated water leaves no chemical residue after use because ozone decomposes rapidly back into oxygen.
