Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ozone gel is an unbranded topical ozone-containing formulation evaluated by Ghufran Falih Hassan at the University of Baghdad as an adjunct to scaling and root planing for periodontitis. Locally applied ozone has broad oxidative antimicrobial activity, damaging bacterial membrane phospholipids and lipoproteins and thereby reducing periodontal bacterial burden; it may also help reduce local inflammatory activity. The registered split-mouth randomized clinical trial did not identify a proprietary product, manufacturer, ozone concentration, or gel vehicle.
