Overview
p-Quaterphenyl is a benzenoid aromatic hydrocarbon consisting of four phenyl groups connected in the para position. It is a rigid, rod-like molecule and functions as a chromophore. Its primary use is as a primary fluor or wavelength shifter in soluble scintillators for detection of ionizing radiation such as beta rays. It has also been investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of malaria[2][6][7].
