Overview

P-TRAX is a fixed-dose combination analgesic developed and marketed by Jointcare Pharmaceuticals. It contains 325 mg of paracetamol (acetaminophen) and 37.5 mg of tramadol hydrochloride. This combination provides a dual mechanism of action for the management of acute pain: paracetamol acts primarily in the central nervous system to elevate the pain threshold, likely through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, while tramadol serves as a centrally acting mu-opioid receptor agonist and a weak inhibitor of norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake. P-TRAX is formulated as an oral tablet and is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe acute pain conditions, including backache, headache, arthritis, dental pain, and pain associated with fever.
