P001X is a synthetic di-block copolymer being developed as an intra-articular injection for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Developed by Pleryon Therapeutics and licensed from Cornell University, the therapeutic is designed to mimic the function of lubricin, a natural protein responsible for joint lubrication. P001X operates through a physical and mechanical mechanism of action, providing boundary lubrication to reduce friction and protect the cartilage within the knee joint. This approach aims to address the mechanical degradation and loss of lubrication characteristic of osteoarthritis without targeting specific molecular signaling pathways. The candidate is currently in preclinical development, with manufacturing support from SEQENS.
