Overview
P002 is a synthetic lubricin-mimetic diblock copolymer being developed by Pleryon Therapeutics for the treatment of dry eye disease. It is designed to replicate the function of lubricin, a natural lubricating glycoprotein found on the ocular surface that reduces friction and protects the corneal epithelium. Unlike traditional molecular-targeted therapies, P002 utilizes a physical and mechanical approach to improve ocular surface lubrication and rehabilitation. The drug is part of Pleryon's proprietary platform that specializes in controlling the 2D sequence and 3D structure of extra-large polymeric molecules to address diseases through biomimetic physical properties. P002 is currently in preclinical development and has shown favorable safety and efficacy profiles in early studies.
