p110β siRNA is a synthetic or vector-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically induce RNA interference-mediated knockdown of the p110β catalytic subunit of PI3-kinase (phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase), encoded by the PIK3CB gene[1][2]. The mechanism of action is sequence-specific degradation of PIK3CB mRNA, leading to reduced protein levels of p110β and consequent inhibition of PI3-kinase signaling[1]. This approach is used for research purposes, especially in the elucidation of gene function and in studies of the role of p110β in cellular processes such as proliferation, migration, survival, and invasion[1]. p110β siRNA has demonstrated biological effects such as inhibition of invasive cell growth in vitro and in tumor models when compared to controls[1]. However, the effects can differ from those observed with small-molecule inhibitors of p110β due to the broader impact on protein-protein interactions and complex stability[3].
