P1516 is a peptide derived from Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) that exhibits potent cytolytic effects on various cancer cells and lymphatic endothelial cells. It functions as a pro-cytotoxic necrotic factor, likely released through TNF degradation, to induce cell death (apoptosis and/or necrosis). Preclinical studies have shown that P1516 can kill human glioblastoma, hepatoma, and renal cancer cells in vitro. Furthermore, in a 4T1 breast cancer syngeneic graft mouse model, P1516 significantly improved survival by inhibiting tumor metastasis, suggesting its potential as a novel therapeutic approach for cancer.
